chinese medicine

- a different approach to health care

We have come to think of our bodies was machines. We see our GP as a mechanic who finds the broken parts and fixes them. For at least a century this has been the way we see sickness and health and about how our bodies work and break down.

This is not the way Chinese medicine sees the human body. Acupuncture and Chinese/Eastern medicine helps return the body back to a natural balanced environment. It is about encouraging strength and resilience in the body. When you turn your focus away from fixing what’s wrong, and instead towards supporting and strengthening what’s right, nature can then take over to repair what’s not working.

ACUPUNCTURE

Acupuncture can seem very mysterious however you can think of it in the same way as manipulating the ‘software’ of the body to effect a change in the ‘hardware’. Sometimes this ‘software’ has become corrupted and stops running or gets glitches. Things such as lack of sleep, stress, anxiety, overwork can cause this to happen. You could be trying to do everything right but hit a plateau because you are only working on the ‘hardware’ of the body. It is one of the only modalities that actually manipulates the ‘software’ of the body, in effect, rebooting the system.

According to neuroscience studies, every part of the human body is mapped out in the brain. Acupuncture points are mapped out on the body and correspond with these areas mapped out on the brain. When needling a selected points, it actually triggers a signal change in the brain which creates the desired effect as intended by the acupuncturist.
