2022 Year of the Water Tiger
Happy Year of the Tiger!
In many places, January 1 is “day one” of the new year, based on a calendar that follows the Earth’s movement around the sun. But the lunar calendar—upon which the Chinese New Year is based—tracks time by the moon cycles. That’s why people all over the world celebrate Chinese New Year on different days each year; this year the calendar starts on February 1.
February 1 marks the beginning of the Year of the Water Tiger. The tiger is considered the king of all animals in Chinese mythology and culture. It symbolises power, courage, confidence, leadership and strength. It is also associated with good luck, bravery, and good health, vitality and wellbeing.
It is predicted to be a year that will bring about new changes, and encourage people to overcome all challenges and difficulties — which is particularly important for this year, when we're all trying to come to terms with all the difficulties around the world. It is believed that in the Year of the Tiger, you've got the opportunity to renew everything … particularly your energy and your strength.
Tiger is associated with the thunder or motion in Chinese I-Ching. Water Tiger is equivalent to the Water-Thunder Hexagram, which means something moving inside the Water. That's a sign of a baby growing inside the womb. Therefore, Water Tiger of 2022 implies caution, growth, development, challenge, creation, and planning.
